- Our first reading today… is actually quite depressing! Here we have the man Job, who is having a bad day, and is telling us about it in no uncertain terms! But the responsorial psalm that follows is hopeful, and reminds us that God heals the brokenhearted. The theme of healing is continued in the Gospel. Sometimes we can feel downcast, like Job. But we need to take heart, and trust in God’s power to heal us.
- We’re grateful… to our parish “Team Hospitality,” who made last weekend’s after-Mass socials so delicious and enjoyable. A good time was had by all.
- Looking ahead… Lent will soon be upon us! Ash Wednesday is February 14, Valentine’s Day! Next week’s bulletin will contain more detailed information about Lent here at St. John Capistran. In the meantime, mark your calendars for Ash Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. Mass with distribution of ashes; 5:00 p.m. Prayer Service with distribution of ashes; 7:30 p.m. Prayer Service with distribution of Ashes.
- Please remember… to return the baby bottles that were given after Mass last weekend to the boxes in the back of the church. Your spare change will be used to help the pro-life group “Human Coalition” (formerly known as the South Hills Pregnancy Resource Center.)
