Pastor's Desk June 24, 2018

  • Whenever June 24th… falls on a Sunday, the solemnity of the Nativity of John the Baptist replaces the usual Sunday in Ordinary Time. As a precursor of Jesus, John the Baptist called people to repentance, and invited folks to “prepare the way for the Lord.” Like John the Baptist, may we also be prophetic people, inviting others to follow Jesus.
  • Bishop Zubik… has asked all parishes to schedule a time of Eucharistic adoration to pray for the success of the diocesan “On Mission for the Church Alive” initiative. Here at St. John Capistran, the Eucharist will exposed following the 9:00 Mass this Friday morning, June 29 until 10:30 a.m. The church will be open for prayer during that time.
  • The second collection next weekend… is the annual “Peter’s Pence” collection, and supports the work of our Holy Father, especially through emergency relief assistance to those throughout the world who suffer from war, oppression, and natural disasters. Your generosity is appreciated.
